When Camden’s legendary performance arts venue, the Roundhouse, closed for refurbishment in 2004, Northern Light were delighted to win the contract to supply the production sound and lighting infrastructure.
The magnificent Grade II listed building, originally built in 1846 as a steam engine shed, played host during the 60s and 70s to such memorable performers as Jimi Hendrix, The Doors and Pink Floyd.
During the £30 million refurbishment of the Roundhouse the Northern Light team were on site for over six months.
As a circular venue, the space within the Roundhouse is so flexible that Northern Light did not install any equipment, just permanent cableways and tie lines throughout the building – allowing performers to plug in anywhere they wish.
Northern Light’s manufacturing division produced bespoke facilities panels which were installed along with the cabling for production sound, and customised and installed the building’s paging system.
The Roundhouse re-opened in June 2006.
