In January 2004, Hackney Empire re-opened following a £15 million refurbishment. The refurbishment project involved total rebuild of the theatre’s backstage areas and a complete electrical and technical overhaul and took two years to complete. Northern Light were brought in by the electrical engineers, Max Fordham LLP, to take care of the electrical contracting, including fire alarm and security systems.
Due the complexity of the project and the large scope of work required, Northern Light managed this project on site to ensure quality and consistency. The project involved installation of the fire alarm, security, communication, data and IT systems, as well as sound and working lights.
For the sound and lighting cabling infrastructure, Northern Light manufactured all facility panels, racks and other necessary equipment and installed them in such a way as to give the theatre as many outlets, in as many locations, as possible.
